About this category

About Productivity

FindUtils provides 23 productivity tools for time management, data organization, and project planning. Use the Pomodoro timer for focused work sessions with customizable intervals. Edit spreadsheets with formula support and CSV/Excel import/export. Build presentation slide decks. Create workflow diagrams and mind maps. Manage agile projects with sprint calculators, story point poker, scope trackers, and retrospective tools. Nearly all of them work entirely in your browser, with no signup: what you type into a timer, a spreadsheet or a mind map is never sent to FindUtils. Two things are the exception. Story Point Poker needs a server because a shared estimation room only works if everyone sees the same votes, and the Mind Map's AI brainstorming panel sends your prompt and the current map to FindUtils AI when you ask it for ideas. FindUtils.com is not the GNU findutils package.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use these tools for project management?

Yes. FindUtils includes several tools specifically designed for agile project management and software development teams. The sprint calculator helps plan sprint capacity based on team size, velocity, and available working days. The story point poker tool supports real-time multiplayer sessions where distributed team members can estimate user stories simultaneously. The scope tracker lets you monitor feature completion across releases. The tech debt register helps catalog and prioritize technical debt items. The retrospective tool provides structured templates for sprint retrospectives with action item tracking. These tools work independently or together to support your team's agile workflow.

Do the timers work in the background?

Partly, and it depends which timer. The countdown timer stores the moment it should finish and compares it with the clock, so it stays accurate in a background tab and shows the right time the moment you come back. The Pomodoro timer counts down once a second, which browsers slow in a hidden tab, so leave it visible if you need it exact. Both play an audible alert when they finish; there are no desktop notifications, and neither keeps a history between visits. The Pomodoro timer uses customisable work intervals (25 minutes by default), short breaks (5) and long breaks (15), and cycles through them automatically.

Can I export spreadsheet data?

Yes. The FindUtils spreadsheet editor supports comprehensive import and export capabilities for seamless integration with other tools. You can import data from CSV files and Excel (.xlsx) spreadsheets. After editing, export your data back to CSV format for use in any spreadsheet application, or directly to an Excel workbook (values, not styling). The spreadsheet editor evaluates formulas -- arithmetic like =A1+B1, range functions like SUM and AVERAGE, text joins, and IF conditions -- and an export carries the calculated values rather than the formula text. You can sort columns, filter rows, find and replace values, and resize columns. The editor handles spreadsheets with thousands of rows efficiently using virtualized rendering.

Are these tools suitable for team use?

Most FindUtils productivity tools are designed for individual use, but several include collaboration features. Story Point Poker is a real-time multiplayer tool where team members join a shared session using a room code, submit their estimates simultaneously, and see results revealed together. This works for both co-located and distributed teams during sprint planning. The retrospective tool supports structured team discussions with voting on action items. For individual tools that you want to share with your team, you can export configurations and data as JSON files and distribute them. The Pomodoro timer can be used independently by each team member while following the same work/break schedule for synchronized team focus sessions.
