About this category
FindUtils offers developer tools that run in your browser, covering the languages and data formats each page names. From JSON formatters and API testing utilities to regex testers, diagram editors, and code converters, most tools process your input locally; the HTTP Request Builder, Webhook Tester, GitHub Dev Card, WVW Store Checker and UML editor send what they need to a server, and each says so on its page. Whether you need to format a JSON response, generate TypeScript types from a schema, check an OpenAPI spec's structure, design a UML diagram, or convert between curl commands and code, these utilities remove the need for desktop installations. Popular tools include the JSON Formatter with syntax highlighting, Base64 Encoder/Decoder, Regex Tester with live matching, and SQL Formatter supporting multiple dialects. To pull text, Markdown or JSON with page positions out of a PDF, use the PDF Text Extractor, which now lives on the PDF Tools hub at findutils.com/pdf/pdf-text-extractor/ and still runs in your browser. FindUtils.com is not the GNU findutils package.
No. Every developer tool on FindUtils is available with no signup, no account, and no usage limits. Unlike many competing tools that restrict features behind paywalls or require registration, FindUtils provides unlimited access to every tool. There are no daily usage caps, no watermarks on output, and no premium tiers. We believe essential developer utilities should be available to everyone. Most tools run entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript, so what you paste into a formatter or a generator is never sent to FindUtils. A few have to reach a server to do their job at all — the HTTP request builder, the webhook tester and the UML diagram renderer — and those are the ones that cost us anything to run without compromising on features or quality.
Yes, for the formatters, converters, validators and encoders: they process your input in your browser with JavaScript or WebAssembly, and the tool code does not send your code, JSON, or keys to a server. A few tools on this hub need a server by design and say so on their page: the Webhook Tester keeps a bin on a Worker, the HTTP Request Builder proxies requests, the GitHub Dev Card reads a public profile, the WVW Store Checker fetches a store file, and the UML editor renders PlantUML through a proxy and offers an AI chat. The pages also load analytics and ad scripts, as most websites do, so a network monitor shows those requests; they are separate from the tool code. For proprietary code, open the page in a private window with a content blocker, and every browser-side tool still works.
Most developer tools work after the initial page load since they run client-side JavaScript with no server dependencies. Once the page is loaded in your browser, the tool functions entirely offline. For the best offline experience, you can install FindUtils as a Progressive Web App (PWA) from your browser's menu. The PWA caches all essential resources so tools are available even without an internet connection. A few tools that require external lookups, like DNS tools or API testing, will need internet connectivity for those specific features, but the core functionality of formatters, converters, encoders, and validators all work completely offline.
Each page names what it supports. Formatters cover JSON, XML, YAML, SQL, HTML and CSS. The JSON converters generate Go structs, Java classes, Python classes, Zod schemas and TypeScript interfaces. The curl converter writes JavaScript, Node, Python, PHP, Go and Ruby. The code diff and code screenshot tools highlight about twenty languages. The regex tester runs JavaScript's engine only; most common patterns behave the same in Python and Go, but flavour-specific syntax is not checked. The SQL formatter handles standard SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQLite; there is no T-SQL or PL/SQL mode. Data format tools cover JSON, CSV, YAML, XML, Base64 and URL encoding.
These do related work and live at another address, so the count above leaves them out.
