About this category
FindUtils provides 15 education tools designed for teachers, tutors, and students. Create flashcard decks that remember which cards you know, generate printable arithmetic worksheets and vocabulary and spelling worksheets, build quizzes with multiple-choice, true/false and open-ended questions, design classroom seating charts by shuffling and dragging names between seats, generate assessment rubrics with customizable criteria and scoring levels, print attendance registers, and plan structured lesson outlines. All 15 tools run in your browser with no account required, and the student names, marks and lesson plans you enter are never sent to FindUtils. What each one can put on paper differs: six build a PDF, three open the print dialog, and the rest are worked with on screen. FindUtils.com is not the GNU findutils package.
Some of them, and it is worth knowing which before you plan a lesson around it. Flashcard Maker, Worksheet Generator, Vocabulary Worksheet, Quiz Maker, Seating Chart Maker and Attendance Sheet Generator build a PDF in your browser and hand you the file; flashcards come out with cut lines, and the quiz and the vocabulary worksheet end with an answer key. Seating charts and attendance registers can also be printed straight from the page, with the controls left off the paper. Course Quiz Generator, Lesson Plan Template and Report Card Generator open your browser's print dialog, where you can choose Save as PDF. Rubrics, essay outlines, thesis statements, research titles and the typing test do not produce a document; rubrics export CSV. The PDFs are A4 (the seating chart and the attendance register in landscape), so on US Letter paper choose Fit to page when you print.
No. None of the 15 education tools asks for a signup, an email address or a school affiliation, and there is no cap on how much you make. What you type into them -- student names, marks, lesson plans -- is processed in your browser and is not sent to FindUtils. That is a statement about the tools, not a compliance opinion: this page loads advertising and analytics like the rest of the site, and whether a particular workflow satisfies FERPA, COPPA, GDPR or your own institution's rules is a question for whoever owns that policy.
In two of them. Education Suite keeps your classes in the browser's IndexedDB storage and restores them when you come back, and it can export everything as a JSON file and read that file back in. Flashcard Maker keeps your deck, and which cards you marked as known, in this browser until you clear it. Every other tool keeps nothing between sessions: close the tab and what was on screen is gone, so download or print before you leave. Attendance sheets, flashcards, rubrics and seating-chart class lists export CSV, and Seating Chart Maker can import a class list from a CSV or Excel file.
They run in any modern browser on a school computer, a laptop, a tablet or a phone, with nothing to install and no compatibility matrix to worry about, so sharing a link is usually enough. What you can hand to a learning management system depends on the tool: the six that build a PDF give you a file to upload to Google Classroom, Canvas, Moodle or Blackboard, and the three that print let you save one from the print dialog. Quiz Maker can also be taken on screen, one question at a time, on the device where you built it. The rest are worked with on screen.
These do related work and live at another address, so the count above leaves them out.
