How to Create a Fake WhatsApp Chat Screenshot
-
Set Up the Contact
Enter the contact name and upload a profile picture. Choose an online status such as Online, Typing, or Last Seen to make the conversation look authentic. -
Add Messages to the Conversation
Click Add Message to build your chat thread. For each message, select the sender (Me or Them), type the text, set a timestamp, and choose a delivery status like sent, delivered, or read with blue ticks. Use Add photo to attach a picture: the text becomes its caption, or leave the text empty to send the photo on its own. Messages already in the chat can gain, change or lose a photo the same way. -
Customize the Appearance
Switch between light and dark themes to match the WhatsApp version you want to simulate. The chat background is the familiar patterned wallpaper in light mode and plain dark in dark mode; it cannot be changed. -
Preview and Download
Check the live preview on the right side of the screen. When you are satisfied with the result, click Download Image to save a high-quality PNG screenshot to your device.

Why use our WhatsApp Chat Generator?
The WhatsApp Chat Generator lets you build realistic mock conversations that look like WhatsApp screenshots. Whether you need a quick mockup for a client presentation, a sample chat for an educational module, or a creative visual for social media content, this tool gives you full control over every detail including contact names, profile pictures, message timestamps, and read receipt indicators.
Unlike basic screenshot editors, this generator handles the small details that make a conversation feel real. You can set each message to show single-tick sent status, double-tick delivered status, or the iconic blue ticks for read confirmation, and any message can carry a photo, shown inside the bubble with the message text as its caption. Light and dark themes are both supported, so your mockup matches the WhatsApp version your audience expects. If you also need to create conversations for other platforms, try the iMessage Chat Generator for Apple-style bubbles or the ChatGPT Screenshot Generator for AI conversation mockups.
All processing happens directly in your browser. No messages or photos are uploaded to any server, no account is required, and there are no usage limits. Once your conversation is ready, download it as a high-quality PNG image. For creators who need matching social media assets, the Instagram Post Generator and Twitter/X Post Generator pair well with this tool to build a complete visual content kit.
How it compares
Most fake WhatsApp chat generators online require account signups, display intrusive ads, or process your data on remote servers. FindUtils WhatsApp Chat Generator runs entirely in your browser with zero data collection. Compared to mobile apps that offer similar functionality, the browser-based approach means nothing is installed on your device, and you get instant access from any desktop or laptop. The tool also supports both light and dark WhatsApp themes, per-message read-receipt ticks, and photo messages with or without a caption.
For teams that produce social media content at scale, combining this tool with the Image Caption Maker and Social Media Image Resizer creates an efficient pipeline from mockup to publish-ready asset, all without leaving FindUtils.
Tips for Realistic Results
- Use natural, conversational language with occasional typos or abbreviations to make messages feel genuine.
- Vary the timestamps between messages realistically, leaving gaps of a few minutes rather than identical intervals.
- Mix delivery statuses throughout the conversation. Not every message needs blue ticks; some can stay on single or double tick.
- Upload a real-looking profile picture instead of leaving the default avatar blank for a more convincing mockup.
- Keep the conversation length moderate. Real WhatsApp chats rarely have 50 perfectly crafted messages in a row.
